Spring is springing and my how the real estate market in Calgary is restless! As with the rest of the country on lockdown, we are beginning to notice some new patterns emerge. All the time cooped up this winter has not been kind to many. As a result, we are seeing interesting trends in the real estate market come into play. Where we were once focused on selling density driven properties and homes we are now shifting into a different gear. One that sees home buyers in the Calgary area looking for more!
What do Calgary home buyers want more of from real estate this spring?
Calgary home buyers and sellers are both looking for more space. If it’s one thing that the Pandemic has shown us it’s that we all may have been living a life that centered entirely around work. We wanted to live close to where we worked. Even if that meant that our condo wasn’t as big as the cubicle at the office. It all made sense when we lived to work, but how things have changed in just a short year! We are now seeing more and more people working from home offices. When there is no commute required and you have to roll out of bed into your desk, you might begin to crave a little separation. That’s why we are seeing a large percentage of city dwellers packing up and heading for more open space. They’re looking for out buildings that could transform into gyms or home offices to name a few, but they also want more of the outdoors!
Outdoor space has never been so important!
Outdoor space has always been a luxury in the condo market. Condos with wraparound decks and outdoor space tend to move faster than the ones with no access to private outdoor space. However, we are seeing more and more buyers looking for even more when it comes to this amenity. They don’t just want a deck. They want a garden, access to a pool or hot tub and more than any other amenity, they want to be close to the outdoors.
